Post by Sherman Oberson
The hazy lazy days of summer are upon us. We had a scheduling conflict and many of us were just returning from Clay back east so we did not have a June meeting. Our next meeting will be on July 21st. I hope you’ll come out and join us. It’s going to be so much fun and you won’t want to miss it.
July meeting – Make a totem with Sherman Oberson Sunday July 21st noon-5pm

I recently returned from the Canadian polymer clay retreat where they did a group project loosely based on Maureen Carlson’s totems. Everyone made six “totem” pieces which could be anything that had a 1/4 inch hole through it and we blind swapped them. Here is a picture of one of the totems. It was a lot of fun.
For July’s meeting I’ll demo some ideas for pieces and have dowels on hand for those that want to make a totem. You’ll need your normal clay and tools. Also helpful would be some canes, interesting molds and textures. I’ll have some molds and textures with me and a drill in case we need to drill any of the pieces to make them fit the dowel.
